Due to ongoing expansion, we are seeking an energy meteorologist to join our expert, dynamic forecast team. Remote working is an option. This is an exciting opportunity to become an important part of the fastest growing commercial and energy weather forecasting company in Europe.
The successful candidate will work within our weekday-based team of energy meteorologists, analysing and interpreting observational, teleconnection and forecast model data to ensure our energy customers are always in receipt of the most accurate and up-to-date information available. Forecasting is on a global scale and ranges from intra-day to seasonal in scope. The candidate will require strong interpersonal and customer-focussed skills, critical for client-facing discussions. Alongside regular verbal briefings with energy customers, comprehensive written briefings are required. A proactive, professional and energetic approach is necessary, with a willingness to get involved in all aspects of the working environment including product innovation and development.
Experience and skills required
- A degree in meteorology or associated science.
- Experience as an operational energy forecaster for European or worldwide markets.
- Comprehensive knowledge of global weather models, including their strengths and weaknesses.
- In-depth knowledge of synoptic meteorology and climatology.
- Knowledge of key teleconnections and how they can impact global weather patterns.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding the importance of team work
- UK/EU resident or valid UK work permit
