MetDesk is headquartered in the picturesque Chiltern town of Wendover, which has a regular direct train service to London. Thisis a new position within the team to support our ongoing expansion and future aspirations. You’ll be working closely with commercial staff, trained meteorologists and IT specialists. There will be a focus on maintaining high reliability of our extensiveinfrastructure and there is also the exciting opportunity for you to innovate to take our systems to the next level.

Responsibilities

  • Acquire a good understanding ofMetDeskWeather Services, and the correspondingFront and Back End code, to provide support in resolving code related issues
  • Manage and deploy small code change releases as required by MetDesk
  • Develop fixes to problems that have been marked for follow up
  • Peer review code or config changes to MetDesk internal system
  • Take ownership of customer and staff issues reported and see the problems through to a resolution
  • Assist team members in challenging problem solving situations
  • Recommend improvements based on your experience when troubleshooting issues
  • Recommend improvements that drive efficiency within ourIT systems, such as automation of manual checking tasks
  • Join on-call rota to respond to emergencies
  • Use our internal weather visualisation tools to assist problem solving

Experience and skills required

Essential skills

  • Experience working in a technical support department
  • Hands on experience with Linux, Windows and Mac OS environments
  • Excellent problem solving and communication skills

Desirable skills criteria

  • Knowledge of database architectures such as MySQL/MariaDB, PostgreSQL
  • Knowledge of NoSQL architectures such as MongoDB
  • Docker
  • JIRA
  • PHP
  • Python
