MetDesk is headquartered in the picturesque Chiltern town of Wendover, which has a regular direct train service to London.  This is a new position within the team to support our ongoing expansion and future aspirations.  You’ll be working closely with commercial staff, trained meteorologists and IT specialists.

The Role

You will be part of the IT Development team with a focus on improving and maintaining our fast growing API offering.  You will have the opportunity to add technical flair to our ever expanding Energy Trading platform, be involved with our traditional Transport sector systems and take part in our endeavours to provide new and exciting services to the weather industry worldwide.

You will be working with different teams within the business to understand requirements and design fast, efficient and robust APIs that our future products will be based upon.

Experience/Essential skills required

  • Strong experience of crafting REST APIs
  • Excellent experience with PHP
  • Ability to work with PHP5 with a view to progress to more modern versions of PHP (7 and 8)
  • Strong experience with SQL – specifically PostgreSQL (TimescaleDB), MySQL
  • Linux
  • Team player
  • Fluent English communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate the ability to handle the pressures of working autonomously
