- A degree in meteorology OR a science-related degree, with a keen, demonstrable interest in weather and forecasting.
- In-depth knowledge of UK and European synoptic meteorology, climatology and geography
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Good computer skills
- Willingness to work unsociable hours
- Understanding the importance of team work
- UK resident or valid UK work permit

- A degree in meteorology or associated science
- At least 2 years recent experience as an operational forecaster in the UK or Europe
- In-depth knowledge of UK and European synoptic meteorology, climatology and geography
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence when briefing customers and retaining knowledge of their requirements
- Willingness to work unsociable hours, including night shifts, weekends and public holidays
- Understanding the importance of team work
- UK resident or valid UK work permit
Useful skills to have:
- Experience of leading operational forecast shifts
- Experience in research and development, with opportunities for a split meteorologist/research role.
- Experience of customer briefings and presentations
- Experience of mentoring and supporting junior meteorologists
